The play takes place during a welcome back party for Sally, who has just returned home to Southern California from a two-year stay in Italy, where she had been trying to make it as an artist.

Sally must confront a society she does not feel comfortable in, a family she feels uneasy with, and a boyfriend she no longer loves. The play looks at the theme of living abroad and the joys and sorrows of coming home.

George is a dutiful husband who tries to fulfill his wife's DIY requests, if not exactly within the timeframe she expected. Shirley makes sure that George is left in no doubt as to what she thinks of his skills as a handyman.

Unfortunately for Shirley there is a second George who has designs on her future - especially in the short term! The play starts with George in Hell - how did he get there we wonder?

 

Fear of heaven by John Mortimer

Directed by: PSusan Aeschbach-Jagger & Eric Collino This play is set in an old Tuscan palazzo which has been converted into a hospital for transients and the urban poor. In adjacent beds, two Englishmen, both victims of accidents, recover consciousness and, seeing the huge, beautiful painting of Heaven on the ceiling, assume they have "passed on".In the course of their conversation, Luby, arather arrogant lecturer, with a special interest in the decadent lifestyles of the great poets, is shocked to discover that the apparently dull and insignificant Fletcher has led the sort of Byronic life which he has only written about. When Fletcher really dies, Luby determines to start living life to the full, until Mrs. Luby comes to visit.
